Editor’s Note
Our apologies to Tealia Ellis Ritter for the errors that appeared in the article about her by Larry Singer in the May 2005 issue (pg.44). Quoting Ms. Ritter, “Larry Singer states on page 125 that I graduated in May 2004 with my Masters in Arts from Columbia after teaching there. This is completely inaccurate. I went to Columbia as an undergrad and graduated in 2001 with my B.A., after which I went to the University of Iowa where I taught until 2004, at which time I graduated with my Masters in Fine Arts (an M.A. is not the same as an MFA). I never taught at Columbia nor did I attend the graduate program there.” The story also said that Tealia grew up in Iowa. She actually grew up in Illinois. We are not prone to making a lot of mistakes in print, but occasionally we make a doozy. Again, our apologies for the errors.

I recently filled a flash card full of photos I took at a wedding and thought I had transferred them onto my hard drive. Instead, I erased them and shot another job on top of that one. Is there any hope for recovery of the job I erased and shot over? Thanks in advance.

I purchased a Linotype-Hell Saphir scanner several years ago. Recently I moved and I didn’t lock down the scanning mechanism, and as a result, it will no longer scan. I have been unable to find anyone who will fix it, and it seems that the company was sold to someone in Australia. Do you know of any company that will repair it.
Repro and Electronic Services (www.resuk.
com) is an authorized Linotype-Hell repair facility, but I believe they are in England. Linotype-Hell scanners were apparently marketed by Heidelberg CPS, but from what I can find out, the company discontinued your scanner some time ago. You can try contacting Heidelberg U.S. (www.us.heidelberg.com) to see if they can repair your unit or recommend a domestic source for repairs.
