School Spotlight
California Photographic Workshops
This year, for the first time, California Photographic Workshop will
be relocated to a downtown hotel in the Fisherman’s Wharf area
of San Francisco, CA. Held March 28–April 2, the classes will
all have a tuition of $650 for WPPI members, $725 for non-members.
The 2004 session will be held at Holiday Inn.
Special room rates have been established for those attending the workshops.
CPW features well known photographers, who are
also top notch instructors. Courses include: “Contemporary Wedding
Photography” with
Joe Buissink, “‘Magazine Style’ Portraiture” with
Bambi Cantrell, “Fine Art Portraiture” with Tim Kelly, “Digital
High School Seniors” with Ralph Romaguera, “Lifestyle
Portraiture” with
Janel Pahl, and “Children’s Photography from the Heart” with
Peg Jackson.
Additionally, there are several Photoshop and
digital courses offered.
A full-day “Digital Solutions” Seminar
and Trade Show, Sunday, March 28, will feature several speakers on
digital imaging and Photoshop.
There will also be a special evening
presentation by Lisa Evans during the week of school.

Texas School
The Texas School will be held at Texas A&M University, April 25–30.
Courses are $395 for Texas PPA members and $460 for non-members.
(Some classes have additional materials fees.) Evening meals are included
in
the tuition. Reservations will not be accepted until January
3. Classes fill up quickly.
The school offers a variety of beginning,
intermediate and
advanced courses with a wide range of topics.
Marketing
courses include: “Portrait and Wedding Photography” with
Doug Box; “Marketing, Pricing, Selling in the New
Digital World” with
John Hartman; and “The Perfect Mix” with
Roy Madearis.
Digital courses include: “Real Life
Digital Photography” with
Will Crockett, “Tame the Digital Beast” with
Robert Faust, “Practical
Applications with Photoshop” with Jon Glyda,
and “Real
World 101” with Ralph & Ryan Romaguera. There
are also several Photoshop courses that will be offered.
Courses
about lighting include: “The Power of Light” with
Tony Corbell and “Mastering the Light” with
John Woodward.
Courses on wedding and portrait photography include: “Wedding Photography—Mastering
the Techniques” with Hanson Fong, “Lifestyle
Portraiture” with
Don MacGregor, “Creative B/W Portraiture and
the Hollywood-Style Portrait” with Tim Meyer, “Senior
Photography—Today
and Tomorrow” with Larry Peters, “Portraiture
with Love and Feeling” with Joseph & Louise

Illinois
Workshops
All classes for the June 13–17 Illinois Workshops are held at the
Lodge at Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton,
IL. Most students, faculty and staff stay there. There are special room
rates of $79.50 for a single
and $89.50 for a double.
There is a $50 discount
on tuition paid prior to April 15 2004; prices below include this discount.
The
wedding course offered is “Stepping in to the Next Wedding
Dimension” with Hanson Fong ($575).
Michael Taylor will teach the advanced portrait
course “Classic
and Environmental Portraiture” ($575).
Jim Frieze offers the beginning/intermediate
portrait course “Putting
the ‘Art’ Back in Portraiture” ($495).
Both digital courses are $675: “Advanced Photoshop” with
Todd Morrison and “Photoshop 101—Beginning
Photoshop” with
the Illinois Workshops Staff.
