Canon U.S.A. Improves Professional Services Program
Canon U.S.A. (Lake Success, NY, www.usa.canon.com/cps) will launch a revamped Canon Professional Services (CPS) program during the first quarter of 2009. The new program, which requires all existing members to reapply, will offer three levels of membership (Silver, Gold and Platinum). ShootQ Raises Awareness of Rape Victims in Eastern Congo
ShootQ (Atlanta, GA, www.shootq.com), a web-based studio management solution for event photographers, recently announced that wedding photographer and photojournalist Sherrlyn Borkgren has been awarded $10,000 to photographically document the violent rape, torture and abuse of women by militiamen in the Eastern Congo. Small World Game from Nikon
Nikon Instruments is giving everyone the chance to identify microscopic images typically only viewed by scientists. The new online game, "Identify the Image," shows players a series of five 2008 Nikon Small World finalist images and then asks them to correctly identify each photomicrofocus graph. Saying Goodbye to One of Photography's Greats
Jack Curtis, who grew up in western Kansas and went on to achieve international prominence in the field of photography, died July 16, 2008, in Santa Monica, CA. He was 87. Curtis was an author, publisher, inventor and talented photographer, but his true passion was teaching. He taught extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico, Canada, Australia and Japan. More »

Previous 3D systems were plagued with poor image quality, and a cumbersome user experience, which often meant the need for special 3D glasses. NEW Tilt and Shift Adapter from Hasselblad
Hasselblad (www.hasselbladusa.com) has extended the tilt and shift capabilities of its lenses with the HTS 1.5 tilt and shift adapter. Designed for the HCD28mm, HC35mm, HC50mm, HC80mm and the HC100mm lenses, the new Shift Adapter adds, in effect, five different tilt and shift lenses to the company’s HC/HCD line of lenses.
