WPPI Spotlight

• WPPI Trade Show
This year’s tradeshow has one of the most diverse groups of exhibitors we’ve ever had, and new products will abound. There are approximately 40 different album companies, 40 labs, every major camera manufacturer, software companies, frame companies and about every photographic accessory you’d ever need to help create outstanding images.

Because WPPI is the first major tradeshow after the PMA show each year, new products are often shown to the professional photographic market for the first time. Last year, for example, Canon introduced the new Mark II to the public for the very first time at WPPI.

WPPI Plus
If you haven’t been to WPPI Plus before, this is the year for you to start. It’s an opportunity for you to pick up fresh perspectives on the creative side of your business. And the selection of instructors is outstanding!

If you’re interested in adding fashion to your images, Matthew Jordan Smith is one of the finest portrait photographers in the world. His platform program last year was standing room only, and you may remember his cover shot of Tyra Banks on last year’s January issue of Rangefinder.

Looking to recharge your batteries and take a new look at creativity? Don’t miss Arthur Rainville’s program. Arthur continuously leaves photographers speechless at every one of his programs and workshops. You can’t grow your business with the same old approach year after year!

Doug and Barbara Box are teaching together for the first time at WPPI 2005. This is a rare opportunity for you to pick up new ideas on marketing, album design and customer service from two of the industry’s most published authors and photographers.

Joe Photo packs the house at every WPPI. This time he’s teaching a WPPI Plus program, giving you a chance to learn, in a 20-person, two-day workshop, how Joe’s business continues to grow in one of the most competitive wedding markets in the country.

Over the past several years Australia has set the pace for cutting-edge wedding and portrait photography. This year we’re ecstatic to have two outstanding photographers from “down under”: David Williams and Marcus Bell. While each have been top award winners in past WPPI competitions, their work and approach to photography is completely different and equally ground-breaking.

There’s a very thin line between photography and art, but Helen Yancy blasts right through that line with her fine art watercolor techniques. Here’s a chance to learn from one of photography’s finest artists the techniques that have made her images so sought after.

It’s one thing to see the light, but another to understand how to harness it. Tony Corbell’s experience in every aspect of professional photography has made him one of the industry’s most effective instructors, but also one of the most diverse photographers in the country.

• Leasing
In a recent survey of Rangefinder readers, almost 100 percent told us they anticipated purchasing new equipment this year. If you haven’t considered it before, it’s time to think about leasing. Leasing gives you a chance to utilize the manufacturer’s assets without depleting yours!

Pick up the phone and call Leasing Associates (800/456-2588 x101, www.leasing associates.com). It costs nothing but a few minutes of your time to apply and establish your credit line for the equipment you need. Now, here’s the fun part: When looking at all the new products at WPPI 2005, you’ll already have advance approval for the financing, without tying up your own capital!

Plus, many of WPPI’s 240 exhibitors will be offering big tradeshow specials, providing the opportunity to not only get the products you need, but save money as well.
